Kirsty Healey purchased our B&B on 8th September 2017 and is in the process of setting it up, putting her own mark on it. She will open for business on 21st September and has exciting changes in the pipe line!
We thank all our past guests for choosing to stay with us. We enjoyed our years running the B&B, and we wish Kirsty all the best. Feilding is a great town to live and do business in, so we anticipate you will thrive Kirsty!
Sorry to say the time has come to sell. Our loss will be someone else's gain. Our B&B is the busiest one in Feilding, and we are No 1 on TripAdvisor out of the 8 B&B's and Inn's in the area. Super location for an accommodation business, in NZ's Most Beautiful Town. Manfeild with all it's events is only 1km down the road. Feilding is a thriving provincial town offering a great life style. Palmerston North is only 15 - 20 minutes drive away, with all it's city amenities. Listed for sale on TradeMe, Listing number 1341472186.
It was so exciting to go to Auckland last weekend for the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Conference and at the dinner be presented with the award for the Most Beautiful Large Town. That makes 15 times Feilding has won it since the commencement of these awards in 1988. I'm pictured here with Doug Tate, from Manawatu District Council - he was the driving force behind the application. Thanks Doug.
Being Chairperson of Keep Feilding Beautiful, I have been quite busy recently leading up to Clean Up Week. I've been really delighted with the community response as we try harder each year to promote the event to a wider audience. There are many clean ups happening around the town this week and on the weekend. On Saturday I'll be helping plant trees on a road side verge, which a resident has "adopted" to beautify. Actually we have nominated him (Allan Muntz) for the Tidy Kiwi Award. On Sunday afternoon our local MP Ian KcKelvie is joining volunteers as we pick up litter along the Railway Line. Activities like this are not drudgery, they can be fun, especially when in a group.
We have just changed the use of our rental flat in Feilding, to make it available for short term accommodation. So we now have a self contained option, off site, besides the B&B. The unit is fully furnished and can be booked online via Bookabach (listing number 36268) or accommodationfeilding.co.nz
In a recent book by the Walters, titled Marae - A journey around New Zealand's meeting houses, I was delighted to read their definition of aroha.
"Aroha is where there is trust, respect and compassion. Trust is to accept other people, acting in goodwill...Respect is to accept other people as they are, and no efforts are made to prescribe a way to change them. Compassion is acknowledging that other people have needs, and doing what is practical to help them meet their needs." These are the values I aspire to, so my bed and breakfast business is appropriately named Aroha.
I love spring - everything in the garden just comes to life. The daffodils and the bluebells are finished but now the clivia's, Chatham Island forget me nots, the first rose blooms and the hostas are all looking great. This is the time of the year we hold our Keep Feilding Beautiful Garden Competition - not that I can enter it as an organiser, but I think it is the best time of the year to hold it - before the inevitable drought strikes!
